INTERNATIONAL HONOUR FOR PAKISTANI MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL AND ITS PRESIDENT
Prof. Dr. Syed Sibitul Hasnain, President, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has been elected as Member-at-large of the Management Committee of IAMRA in the 8th Bi-annual Conference of International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) held from 6-9 October 2008 in Cape Town, South Africa. The meeting was attended by 184 delegates, mostly heads of the medical regulatory authorities of the world.
IAMRA has mandated the four membered Management Committee to carry out the policies laid down by the Members General Assembly, and has fully empowered the Committee to perform all acts and transact all business for and on behalf of IAMRA. It is further informed that The Management Committee provides the leadership in the development and implementation of IAMRA’s strategic plan and decisions worldwide.
By the election of the President of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council as one of its key leaders, the world has reposed full confidence in the regulatory regime practiced by PMDC and has acknowledged the professional standards being maintained by it in Pakistan. The election of Prof. Hasnain has enhanced the professional credibility and acceptability of Pakistan in the medical field at the world stage.
MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT
I feel privileged to say that the PM&DC is fully alive to the demand of the country regarding health care and availability of doctors, thereby, it is fully committed to uplift the medical education and take the profession to new dimensions in the context of emerging concepts in the field of research and its application, the knowledge which is essential must be amplified and shared by all.
To correct the inattention of decades to resolve vital legal and academic matters is no doubt a gigantic task, but I feel confident and fortunate to have a large number of eminent experts in all fields of medicine around me to bring the phenomenal change.
I look forward to a very close cooperation and interaction with every stakeholder to set new benchmarks in running the affairs of the institution. It is high time to rise upto the occasion. I am sure that, with the support and guidance of my council, PM&DC shall meet the challenging targets lying ahead.
I fully appreciate the timely decision taken by the Ministry of Health which has paved the way to run the affairs in accordance with the PM&DC ordinance 1962.
